A parliamentary watchdog on Monday recommended filing cases over alleged financial anomalies in co-operatives societies and multipurpose co-operatives societies, which are registered with the Co-operatives Department, reports UNB.
The Parliamentary Standing Committee on Local Government, Rural Development and Co-operatives Ministry came up with the recommendations at its 16th meeting held at the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban with committee chairman Abul Hasanat Abdullah in the chair.
The committee suggested that Rajshahi Wasa start the implementation of the 'Construction of Surface Water Treatment Plant Project' immediately for ensuring safe water for the city dwellers. It also asked the Rajshahi City Corporation to reclaim the Sona Dighi and take it to its original shape.
The parliamentary body emphasised easing resentment of the Barisal City Corporation staff soon. Committee members LGRD and Co-operatives Minister Khandker Mosharraf Hossain, State Minister for Rural Development and Co-operatives Division Md Moshiur Rahman Ranga, Advocate Rahamat Ali, Rajiuddin Ahmed Raju, AKM Mostafizur Rahman and Fazle Hossain Badsha attended the meeting.
