Claiming that there is no connection between the recognition of Qawmi education and Hefajat-e-Islam Bangladesh, Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan yesterday said the government has recognised the degree for the sake of thousands of students, reports UNB.
"The recognition of Qawmi madrasah is a longstanding issue. Thousands of students are pursuing studies at Qawmi madrasahs. The Prime Minister has
fulfilled her promise so that Qawmi madarasah students can stand on their own feet," he said. The minister was addressing a function marking the inauguration of a new building of Jhenaigati Police Station in Sherpur yesterday. Asaduzzaman also said there is no relation between the recognition of Qawmi education and militancy.
Local MP Engineer AKM Fazlul Haque, Mymensingh divisional commissioner GM Saleh Uddin, DIG Chowdhury Abdullah Al Mamun, Zila Parishad chairman Humayun Kabir Ruman, deputy commissioner of the district Dr Mallick Anwar Hossain and police super Rafiqul Hasan Gony were, among others, present on
the occasion.
