RANGPUR: Endocrinologists and diabetic experts called upon the diabetic patients for maintaining disciplined and systematic life to live longer, reports BSS. They also urged the physicians to inspire the diabetic patients building habit for taking balanced food and regular physical exercise. They expressed the views at the seminar yesterday arranged by Rangpur Community Medical College and Hospital (RCMCH) at its auditorium for the diabetic patients. Acting Director of RCMCH Dr Rafikul Islam was in the chair.
More than 500 diabetic patients, physicians, nutrition officials, medical technologists, dieticians, health educators and other concerned participated in the seminar.
Endocrinology Consultant of the Department of Endocrinology at Medico Super Specialty Hospital at Kolkata in West Bengal Dr Kaushik Biswas took part in the seminar as the main discussant. Directors of RCMCH Alhaj Moazzem Hossain, Moslem Uddin Sarker, Major (Retd) Nasim Uddin, Morsheda Yasmin Laizu, Dr Shams Uddin Chowdhury and Monirul Islam, associate professor of RCMCH Dr Rezaul Alam and its Food and Nutritionist Zakia Akbar, addressed among others.
In his presentation, Dr Kaushik Biswas elaborated global scenario of diabetes and suggested for the way outs so that the diabetes patients could lead more disciplined, normal and longer life. He said most of the people are still not aware of the risks of the silent killer disease of diabetes which gradually destroys the immune system of human body leading towards death ultimately.
