A high level of expertise in bowling action, Peat Williams of England, is due to arrive in Bangladesh to train up the local technical staffs of the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) on May 7.
Williams works at England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) with the suspected bowling. He also works for Sussex County Cricket Club.
BCB management information system (MIS) manager Nasir Ahmed Nasu disclosed all to The Independent at the BCB-National Cricket Academy (NCA) ground yesterday, while he was working with the suspected bowlers.
BCB Bowling Action Review Committee (BARC) yet another started their works with the reported bowlers of the last Dhaka First Division Cricket League. A total of 12 bowlers from different 11 clubs have been reported by the umpires during the league. They are Nazmus Sakib of City Club, Shakir Ahmed of Azad Sporting Club, Tarikul Islam of Uttara Sporting Club, Omar Sharif of Uttara Sporting Club, Rizwanul Islam Ridu of Kalindi Krira Chakra, Atiqur Rahman of Dhanmondi Progoti Sangha, Prosanto Das Bijoy of Rapid Foundation, Ali Akbar of Udayachal Cricket Club, Ariful Islam Mohan of Shinepukur Cricket Club, Sayed Mayedul Alam of Sheikh Jamal Cricketers, Riyad Hossain of Dhanmondi Progoti Sangho and Biplob Kumar Sarkar of Bangladesh Boys Club.
The committee to analysis the video of the bowlers’ bowling action is using two types of software including ‘Pitch Vision Software’ and ‘Silicon Coach Software’. Along with that, they measure the degree of the bowling hand’s bent setting high definition cameras at four different angles.
“We’ve worked with seven bowlers at morning session and will work with other two bowlers at afternoon session. Those who could not attend today’s session we’ll work with them in the next week,” said Nasir Ahmed.
“We’ve brought Pitch Vision Software and some high definition cameras, some of which are 90-frame and 100-frame cameras alongside a manual camera what I used today’s activities,” Nasir said.
“We captured the video of the bowler’s bowling action at four different angles- straight forward, 45 degree, back and side angles. We can use eight cameras though we’ve eleven cameras in our stocks but this time around we’ve used four high definition cameras along with two manual cameras,” he added.
About the next procedure, MIS manager said that they sit with the panel after doing the first two things (capturing video and analysis) and take the final decision to clear or suggest for rehab.
“We then sit with our panel after doing these two things. If we see that the degree of the bowler bowling hand bent did not cross the fifteen degree then we clear him or recommend for rehabilitation. If bowler thinks to go for retest after doing rehab properly then we follow the same procedure to remodel his action,” the former wicket-keeper said.
“We send these names to Cricket Committee of Dhaka Metropolis (CCDM), umpires and match referees to strongly monitor the bowlers. We had a strong recommendation so that their action is to capture in video at every match because bowlers could bowl differently in the match situation,” he said.
When asked. have they got any complaint in the ongoing Premier League, Nasu said, “We are yet to receive any complaint of reporting against any bowler in the ongoing Dhaka Premier League (DPL).”
