Vote rigging alleged

Aggrieved candidates of governing body elections of Viqarunnisa School and College yesterday demanded cancellation of the results as they raised allegation of voting rigging. 

They have also threatened to go to the court if their demands are not met immediately.  The demands came at a press conference organised by the Viqarunnisa Guardians Committee at the National Press Club in the capital. 
The defeated candidates of the school and college branches alleged that there have been huge irregularities and corruptions in the governing body elections held on April 22.
They said no elections of the governing body were held for the last nine years. Even the High Court directed to hold the polls six months ago but the authority did not hold the polls in time, they added. 
They also alleged that the defeated candidates have been elected in connivance with the principal Sufia Khatun and presiding officer Abu Ali Md Sazzad Hossain. 
Mir Mosharraf Hossain, a candidate of college branch, alleged, “The presiding officer announced me elected with the margin of one vote. But later the result was cancelled and my opponent Ataur Rahman was declared winner.” 
He also demanded for holding a fair poll again. 
Advocate Rina Parvin, another aggrieved candidate for the women reserved seat, said, “When the ballots were being counted, I was forced to go out of the centre.” 
 “Such irregularities have been occurred for electing the chosen persons. I have informed the deputy commission in writing. I will go for taking legal action if the elections are not held again,” she added.
