Police, in special drives from Friday night to yesterday morning, arrested 39 persons including two activists of Jamaat-e-Islami and four drug traders and recovered illegal drugs- 110 bottles of Phensidyl and 675 liters of locally made liquor-from 11 upazilas of the District, reports BSS from Dinajpur. Sources with the district police said, during the drives, Dinajpur Sadar police arrested seven persons including the four drug traders, Khansama police three, Birganj police five, Kaharole police four, Biral police five, Hakimpur police two, Birampur police two, Chirirbandar police six, Phulbari police two, Parbatipur police one and Ghoraghat police two including the Jamaat activists.
Meanwhile, members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) in a drive recovered 158 pieces of Yaba tablets and 20,000 pieces of cow fattening tablets from Hili Railway station in an abandoned condition during the period. The arrested people were sent to jail.
