BNP’s two city units to have separate offices

After dividing the party's Dhaka city unit into south and north ones, BNP is now going to set up separate offices for the two important units, reports UNB. BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir yesterday said this while talking to reporters at BNP's Nayapaltan central office.
"This office (Nayapaltan Dhaka city office) is located in south city. So, it's the office for south Dhaka city unit. The work has already started for setting
up a separate office for north Dhaka city unit," he said. However, both the units will temporarily use BNP Dhaka city unit's office at Bhashani Bhaban, which is on the opposite side of the party's Nayapaltan central office.
Following the formation of BNP in 1978, the party's Dhaka city unit's office was set up at Nawab Yusuf Market at Naya Bazar in the old Dhaka city. But, former president of the BNP Dhaka city unit Sadeque Hossain Khoka shifted the office to the Bhashani Bhaban in 1997.

formally started using Bhashani Bhaban office after handing over a bouquet to BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir at the party Nayapaltan central office. On April 19 last, BNP split its Dhaka city unit into south and north ones making Habib-un-Nabi Khan Sohel and Abdul Quayum their leaders respectively. About the two new committees, Fakhrul hoped that the new committees will be able to play an effective role in waging a movement, if necessary.
