BSF picks up Bangladeshi   

Lalmonirhat: Indian Border Security Force (BSF) picked up a Bangladeshi national from Burimari border point in Patgram upazila early yesterday, reports UNB.
Sources at Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) said BSF members chased some cattle traders as they went to border pillar No 842 around 4:30am. The BSF men then caught and took away Abdur Rahim, a resident of Kamarpara.
Meanwhile, a letter has been sent to BSF for holding a flag meeting in this connection.

Transport strike observed
Rangamati:  A daylong transport strike, enforced by transport owners and workers of the district protesting an attack on a bus driver, was observed yesterday, reports UNB.
Mohiuddin Selim, president of Rangamati Bus Owners' Association, said Shahadat Hossain, the bus driver came under attack by a gang of criminals at Kutubchhari on Friday afternoon and they enforced the strike protesting the incident. All modes of vehicles stayed off the roads due to the strike, causing sufferings to passengers and disrupting business.
Lightning kills farmer
Bagerhat: A farmer was killed by a lightning strike at Solarkola village in Kachua upazila yesterday, reports UNB.
The deceased was identified as Saidul Sardar, 30, son of Aku Sardar of the village.
Officer-in-charge of Kachua Police Station M Kabirul Islam said Saidul died on the spot as a thunderbolt struck him while he was working in a field near his house around 11am. Farmer killed in Laxmipur lightning strike.  
900 Yaba pills seized, one held   
Faridpur: Police detained an alleged drug peddler along with 900 pieces of Yaba tablets and Tk1.85lakh in cash from the Sadar upazila's Shibrampur area early yesterday, reports UNB. The detainee is Zafar Alam, of Rajbari district. Nazim Uddin, officer-in-charge of Kotwali Model Police Station, said: "Acting on a tip-off, a team of police raided a bus around 1 am and held Zafar with the Yaba pills and the cash money."
Man killed in road accident
Magura: A man was crushed under wheels of a bus on Magura-Jessore highway at Sheikhpara in the district town yesterday morning, reports UNB.
Ilias Ali, officer-in-charge of Magura Police Station, said the moving bus hit Mir Atahar Ali, 45, while he was crossing the road around 6am, leaving him critically injured. He was taken to Sadar Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
Nine ‘Shibir’ men arrested
Noakhali: Police arrested nine leaders and activists of Bangladesh Islami Chhatra Shibir at Fakirhat in Senbagh upazila on Friday night, reports UNB.
Tipped off, police conducted a drive there and arrested Tajul Islam Rakib, president of Senbagh South unit, and eight other activists along with jihadi books while they were holding a secret meeting, said Harun-or-Rashid, officer-in-charge of Senbagh Police Station.
Woman’s body recovered
DINAJPUR: Police recovered the body of a woman from Bariol village in Sadar Upazila of the district yesterday, reports BSS.
The deceased was identified as Khudini Rani, wife of Thakur Das, of the village.
Officer-in-Charge of Sadar Police Station Redwanur Rahman said Khudini Rani went missing on Friday afternoon. Local people found her body in a maize field at the village yesterday morning. On information police rushed to the spot and recovered the body.
