Two-day intl art exhibition held at DU
A two-day International Art Exhibition ended yesterday at Zainul Gallery of the Faculty of Fine Arts of Dhaka University, commonly known as Charukala.
Charukala and the Slade School of Fine Art of University College, London (UCL) jointly organised the exhibition in cooperation with the British Council, Dhaka.
Inaugurating the exhibition as the chief guest, Vice-Chancellor of DU Prof AAMS Arefin Siddique said Dhaka University and British Council have been working together for development of education and research on various subjects including Fine Art, Journalism, and English Learning and Teaching Methods in DU for a long time.
He thanked the British Council for providing an effective project titled International Strategic Partnership in Research and Education (INSPIRE) to DU.
He hoped that the bilateral relationship between DU and British Council, as well as Bangladesh and the UK, would be further strengthened in the days to come.
Dean of Faculty of Fine Arts Prof Nisar Hossain presided over the inaugural session, while Country Director of British Council Barbara Wickham and former Chairman of the UGC Dr Nazrul Islam addressed the occasion as special guests. Professor of DU Sculpture Department Lala Rukh Selim delivered the welcome address, and Director of the Slade School at UCL Dr. Susan Collins gave the vote of thanks.
Skill development programme begins at BUP
A 36-day skill development programme for newly appointed teachers at Bangladesh University of Professionals (BUP) began on Tuesday which will end on May 23.
BUP Vice-Chancellor Maj Gen Md Salahuddin Miaji inaugurated the programme titled Faculty Development Programme as the chief guest at the central conference room on the university campus in the capitals Mirpur area, said a BUP press release.
BUP Pro-VC Professor Dr Nazmul Ahsan Kalimullah addressed the function as the special guest with Commodore Syed Misbahuddin Ahmed in the chair.
