‘Robber’ killed in ‘gunfight’

A suspected robber was killed in a gunfight between two groups of robbers at Deulir intersection in Keshabpur upazila early Thursday.Tipped off that two robber gangs were exchanging fire in the area, a team of police went to the spot early in the morning, said Shahidul Islam Shaheed, officer-in-charge of Keshabpur Police Station.Sensing the presence of the law enforcers, the robbers managed to flee.Later, police rescued two injured people—Yunus Hossain, 40, son of Makbul Hossain of Manipur village in Ashashuni upaizla of Satkhira district and Ashraf-from the spot and recovered one shutter gun and two sharp weapons.
Later, the injured were taken to a local hospital where doctors declared Yunus dead.
