RCC to conserve cultural, archaeological heritages

RAJSHAHI: Rajshahi City Corporation (RCC) will preserve and conserve the existing social, cultural and archaeological heritages here aims at familiarizing the new generation with those, RCC sources said yesterday, reports BSS. To this end, the city corporation will develop and promote necessary infrastructures. It has formulated a project titled ‘Sustainable Development of the city through conservation and development of social, cultural, environmental and archeological infrastructures’. The project will be implemented with an estimated cost of around Tk 21.96 crore. Indian Government will donate the cost. A memorandum of understanding has already been signed to this end on January 29 last.
RCC authority held a meeting in its Mayor Office here on Thursday afternoon discussing ways and means on how to implement the project successfully. In the meeting, RCC Mayor Mosaddique Hossain Bulbul and Assistant Indian High Commissioner Avijit Chattapadhya discussed overall aspects of the project. They said the RCC signed the MoU with India to conserve and develop the existing social, cultural, environmental and archeological infrastructures in the city.
Joint secretary of Economic Relation Division Komolesh Kumar Das, Executive Engineer of Roads and Highway Division Nazmul Haque, RCC Chief Executive Officer Dr Sharif Uddin, Secretary Mahbubur Rahman,
Chief Revenue Officer Shahana Akhter Jahan and Chief Engineer Ashraful Haque also spoke. City Mayor Bulbul termed the Bangladesh-India relations as cordial and long-lasting saying there are more other opportunities of improving the region after the best uses of the relation. He urged the Indian side to invest here for mutual benefit. "We have to come forward and work together for development of the region and boosting regional communications for economic prosperity", he added. Assistant Indian High Commissioner Avijit Chottopadhya expressed his optimism that the RCC, which is entrusted with the task of implementing the project, will complete the work as early as possible so that these could provide added civic amenities to the local populace.
