Young offspinner Al Amin Junior starred again for Prime Bank Cricket Club when he tore apart the top and middle-order batsmen of Mohammedan Sporting Club in the third round game of the Walton Dhaka Premier League yesterday.
Al Amin five-for restrict Mohammedan to 142 in 36.1 overs, after which Prime Bank got a revised target of 149 runs as per the D/L method what they hunt down in 27.4 overs with seven wickets to spare.
This seven-wicket victory gave Prime Bank to maintain their third successive triumphs in the league.
At Khan Shaheb Osman Ali Stadium in Fatullah, Tamim Iqbal opened a good start with Shamsur Rahman but Ariful Haque and Soumya Sarkar did not settle the other end’s batsmen as the duo sent back Rahman and Rony Talukdar cheaply.
This time the downpours made an inroad in the match, which was reduced to 41-over affair. Tamim attempted to build up a big partnership with Mohammedan’s Afghanistan recruit Rahmat Shah after the stop of the rains but in-form young offspinner Al Amin Junior did not allow them to be posed any big threat for the Prime Bank. The diminutive bowler met up his wicket thirst with the prized wickets of Tamim and Rahmat Shah.
Tamim, who missed his fifty just for four runs, clubbed three fours and one six in his 46 off 67. Rahmat Shah on the other hand struck two towering sixes and one boundary to make 22-ball 24 that crossed the 100-run mark.
While Mohammedans were sprawling at 108 for four, Nazmul Hossain Milon tried to rescue the team with Rokibul Hasan and Mehedi Hasan Miraj. At this time, Al Amin junior staged another collapse in Mohammedan batting line-up sending back Rokibul and Nazmul in the same over and then Miraj with his venomous bowling spell. Al Amin Junior, who singled handedly fetched victory for the Bankers in the last match against Khelaghar Samaj Kallyan Samity, finished his bowling figures with 25 for five in six overs and was adjudged player of the match.
He was ably supported by pacer Al Amin Hossain, who grabbed two wickets for 26 runs.
Later, Mohammedan managed to score a paltry 142 for all-out in 36.1 overs.
En route to chase the revised target, Prime Bank Cricket Club though lost their openers-Soumya Sarkar and Mehedi Maruf- in the space of 10 runs Sabbir Rahman Rumman led the team to slot home victory in 27.4 overs. A 97-run unbeaten stand of Rumman and Taibur Rahman Parvez played a catalyst role. Of course, they lost Unmukt Chand earlier. Sabbir clattered 78 to be remained unbeaten. His blistering knock occupied 75 deliveries and was embellished with five sixes and four fours. Parvez was the other not-out batsman, who provided a timely support to Sabbir with 50-ball 42, where he sent the ball four times out of the park.
Taijul Islam, Enamul Haque Jr and Subhashis Roy snapped up one wicket each for the Black and White.
