BRU gets new committee

A seven-member executive committee of Barisal Reporters Unity (BRU) was elected for 2015-16 on Saturday. Anisur Rahman Swapan, Kamrul Ahsan and Masuk Kamal have been elected as president, general secretary and finance secretary respectively of the committee. Kamal Masudur Rahman, election commissioner, announced new committee at the end of 15th annual general meeting of BRU on Saturday. Earlier in the meeting, the members demanded enacting national broadcasting policy into a law only after forming independent broadcasting commission with representatives from all sector of mass media and taking mass consent. They also demanded assurances of freedom of expressions by expanding accountability and transparency in mass media and end of all suppression and oppression against media activists. A general report and audit report were also placed in the AGM.
Four amendment proposals of BRU constitution also discussed and passed in the meeting.
