KHULNA: Speakers at the law and order meeting yesterday asked for taking action against reckless driving on the highways to avoid accidents claiming lives, reports BSS. They also stressed the need for operating regular mobile courts on the highways and important streets in the city and immediate ban on plying battery run Easybikes like Atul, Mohendra on the highways. Khulna District Administration organised the monthly law and order meeting at the conference room at Khulna deputy commissioner office. The meeting was presided over by the deputy commissioner of Khulna Md Mostofa Kamal. Law maker of Khulna-4 constituency S M Mostofa Rashidi Suja, Khulna Police Super Habibur Rahman, Additional District Magistrate S M Oziar Rahman, addressed the meeting. Upazila Chairmen, Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO), representatives of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB), Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB), Khulna Metropolitan Police, among others, attended the meeting. The speakers asked the authority concerned to cancel registrations of unfit vehicles and enhancing activities of traffic police for curbing traffic congestion on the roads and highways.
Deputy Commissioner also asked the UNO for taking necessary steps to evict canal grabbers and requested the authorities of Khulna City Corporation (KCC) for taking integrated step to remove the perennial water logging problem in the city. The law maker also asked the law enforcing agencies to take stern action against illegal drug traders and continue anti-drug operation in the city and district. He also expressed satisfaction over reducing crimes in the city and district in the last two months.
