Plying of all water vessels suspended

Movement of all types of vessel on 11 internal river routes of Barisal has been suspended for the ongoing inclement weather. It also asked to hoist cautionary signal no 2. Earlier the authorities ordered to stop plying of small size of launches with less than 65 feet length due to cloudy weather. But the order was extended when wind speed crossed 10 Nautical miles per hours. BIWTA authorities then restricted plying   of all the 36 launches from all 78 ghats in 11 internal river routes from the port until further notice from Sunday noon. The launches were anchored at different ghats of BIWTA in Barisal.  Following the order three launches earlier returned from the mid river with passengers at the terminal.
The step was taken after weather department asked inland river port authorities to hoist cautionary signal no. 2 from yesterday morning following the gusty weather created over south-east Bay and its adjoining areas advancing towards south, said Md Mustafizur Rahman Barisal Port officer. The port officer explained that 3 small and 36 medium types of river vessel will also be stopped if weather situation deteriorates further. All transports scheduled to leave at the port from 12 to 6pm were cancelled. All the 78 internal ghat officials ordered to stop movement of small and medium river transports until further notice. The city-sky became cloudy and weather remained sultry with rainfall from the noon. 9mm rainfall, however, was recorded with gusty winds speeding 10 Nautical miles per our in the city and outskirts, said local met office. it is mentioned that, movement of small types of vessel on all the river routes of Barisal was also suspended on June 22, 2015 for inclement weather.
