Four �robbers� held in Rangpur

RANGPUR: Police arrested four alleged members of a gang of inter-district robbers with firearms and ammunition from Paglapeer on the Rangpur-Dinajpur Highway under Sadar upazila on Staturday night, reports BSS. Police sources said that the arrested robbers are Sadekul Islam Sada, 28, Belal Hossain, 30, Sajibur Rahman Sajeeb, 25, and Rafikul Islam alias Rahman, 37. On a tip off, a special squad of Kotwali police, led by sub-inspectors Ali Hossain and Aminul Islam conducted the raid and nabbed the miscreants while taking preparing to commit robbery on the highway at Paglapeer point. Police also seized four locally made sharp weapons and six rounds of live shutter gun bullets from their possession though three to four members of the gang managed to flee the scene during the drive. A number of criminal cases have been pending against the arrestees with different police stations in several districts of the country. Confirming the incident, officer-in-charge of Kotwali Thana Abdul Kader Zilani told BSS that two separate cases have been lodged against the arrestees.
