PM unveils Bangladesh embassy Chancery in Thimphu

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina yesterday unveiled the plaque of the foundation stone of Chancery of Bangladesh Embassy here at Hejo in the Bhutanese capital, reports UNB from Thimpu.
She unveiled the plaque through a colorful function in presence of Bhutanese King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck and Bhutanese Prime Minister Dasho Tshering Tobgay.
Earlier, an agreement on land allotment for Bangladesh Embassy at Hejo was signed between the two countries.
Foreign Minister AH Mahmood Ali and Bhutanese Foreign Minister Lyonpo Damcho Dorji signed the deal on behalf of their respective governments, while Bangladesh Ambassador in Thimphu Jishnu Roy Chowdhury and National Land Commission Secretary of Bhutan Pema Chewang inked it on behalf of their respective sides.
Later, the national flag of Bangladesh was hoisted and national anthem was played during the time.
Bhutanes King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck, Prime minister Sheikh Hasina and Bhutanese Prime Minister Dshao Tshering Tobgay also witnessed the hoisting standing on a decorated podium and had a view of the land.
Earlier on her arrival at Hejo, the Prime Minister was received by Bhutanese Foreign Minister Lyonpo Damcho Dorji, Secretary of Ministry of Works & Human Settlement Phuntsho Wangdi and Secretary of National Land Commission Pema Chewang.
Through the agreement, the Bhutanese government granted the Bangladesh government to use a 65340 sqf for the construction of Bangladesh Embassy premises in Bhutan.
In 2014, the Bangladesh government granted to Bhutan a 321.895sqm land at Baridhara Diplomatic Enclave, Dhaka for the construction of Bhutanese Embassy premises in Bangladesh.
