Construction of national data centre going on in full swing

The construction work of the national data centre, which is being presumed to be the world’s 7th largest, is going on in full swing at Bangabandhu Hi-Tech park at Kaliakoir in Gazipur.

According to sources, the data centre namely ‘Bangladesh Four Tier National Data Centre’ will be a comprehensive one. This is being constructed aiming at increasing the storage capacity of digital content of various agencies of the government, ensuring cyber security, E-service delivery and storing data of various organisations and companies of international level of the country. 
Hi-Tech park authorities’ sources said as per the announcement of the present government, the developed information and communication technology of the centre will be a driving force of the country's economy. 
Project director of Bangladesh Four Tier National Data Centre Abu Sayeed Chowdhury said about 194 million US dollar will be spent to establish the centre with cloud computing and G-cloud technology. 
EXIM bank of China will finance 154 million US dollars and 40 million US dollars will be funded from GOV sector of Bangladesh government, he added.  
A two-storied building of international standard is being constructed for the centre. About 50 per cent of the construction works of the building has already been completed.  The authorities has arranged domestic and foreign training to enhance efficiency of the manpower for the data centre to operate its activities. The authorities expected that the entire work will be completed within December, 2018.
