Road crashes kill five

Five people were killed in road accidents in three districts on Tuesday and yesterday.
Our Nilphamari correspondent reports: A motorbike rider was killed as a bus hit his bike at Palashbari on the Nilphamari-Domar road in Sadar upazila this noon.
The victim is Anarul Islam, 25, son of Golam Mostofa, a resident of Etakhola village of the upazila.
Police said the accident occurred when a Rangpur-bound bus hit the motorbike in the area from opposite direction at about 2 pm, leaving the bike rider dead on the spot.
In Pabna, three people were killed and 40 others injured as a bus plunged into a roadside ditch at Madhupur under Ataikula upazila of the district yesterday morning, reports BSS.
Two victims are identified as Abu Musa, 40, son of Nifaj Uddin of Kasinathpur village under Aminpur Thana and Abdul Momin, 34, son of Abdul Kader, a resident of Boalia-Hatbaria village under Sathia upazila of the district.
Madhupur Highway Police Camp in-charge M Sahid Hossain said the accident occurred in the area at about 11 am while a Pabna-bound bus plunged into the ditch as its driver lost control over the steering, leaving 43 passengers of the bus injured.
The injured were sent to Pabna General Hospital where three succumbed to their injuries. Among the injured four were shifted to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital in critical condition.
In Habiganj, an unidentified youth was crushed to death under the wheels of a train on the rail track in Lenjapara area near Shaestaganj Railway Station here on Tuesday night, reports BSS.
The accident took place when a local train hit the youth aged about 18 while he was crossing the line. He died on the spot.
