Six DU students get scholarships
Six students of Dhaka University (DU) have been awarded Prof Nazma Begum Trust Fund Scholarship and AF Mujibur Rahman Foundation Gold Medal for their outstanding academic performances.
Three students of Economics Department of DU-- Chowdhury Amir Abdullah (SM Wazed Scholarship), Sadia Afreen Proma (Momena Begum Scholarship) and M Tanjeel Ahmed (Abul Hasnat Mahmud Scholarship) received Prof Nazma Begum Trust Fund Scholarship. DU Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr AAMS Arefin Siddique distributed the scholarships among the students as the chief guest at a function held at the VCs lounge of the university on Tuesday. Presided over by DU Treasurer Prof Dr M Kamal Uddin, the function was attended, among others, by Social Science Faculty Dean Prof Farid Uddin Ahmed, Economics Department Chairperson and donor of the trust fund Prof Dr Nazma Begum and acting Registrar M Enamuzzaman.
Meanwhile, three students of Dhaka University received AF Mujibur Rahman Foundation Gold Medal for their outstanding performance in BSc (honors) and MSc examinations.
The recipients are: M Jasim Uddin and Farhana Akanda Promi of Mathematics Department, and Khadija Khatun of Applied Mathematics Department of the university. DU Vice-Chancellor Prof AAMS Arefin Siddique handed over the medal to the students as the chief guest at a programme held at an auditorium of AF Mujibur Rahman Mathematics Building on Tuesday, said a press release.
Mathematics Department Chairman Prof Dr Amulya Chandra Mandal presided over the function while DU Treasurer Prof Dr M Kamal Uddin, Science Faculty Dean Prof Dr Md Abdul Aziz and Trustee of AF Mujibur Rahman Foundation M Nurul Alam were also present on the occasion.
MoU signed to extend academic activities
Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Maritime University (BSMRMU) today signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Institute of Water Modelling (IWM) with a view to extending academic and research activities of the university.
BSMRMU Registrar Commodore M Abidur Rahman and IWM Executive Director Prof Dr M Monowar Hossain signed the MoU on behalf of their respective institutes at a function at the conference room of BSMRMUs temporary campus in the citys Pallabi, said a press release. BSMRMU Vice-Chancellor Rear Admiral ASM Abdul Baten addressed the MoU signing ceremony as chief guest. Treasurer, deans, faculty members and other officials of the university were present on the occasion, among others.
As per the MoU, both the institutions would be able to exchange academic information, faculty supports and scientific and technological researches and publications between them. Addressing the function, A S M Abdul Baten thanked IWM for stepping forward in the development of the university and hoped that the cooperation will continue in the future.
Awareness programme on UGC Digital Library
KUSHTIA: Awareness Program on UGC Digital Library (UDL) was held at Islamic University (IU) in Kushtia on Tuesday. The programme took place at Bir Shrestha Hamidur Rahman central auditorium of the university around 11:30am.
Professor M Akhtar Hossain, member of University Grant Commission (UGC) was present at the programme as the chief guest with IU Vice Chancellor (VC) Professor Dr M Harun-Ur-Rashid Askari in the chair.
IU pro-vice chancellor Prof M Shahinoor Rahman, Treasurer Prof M Selim Toha and Project Director of Higher Education Quality Enhancement Project (HEQEP) Chandra Mohanta were present as special guests.
Prof M Saidur Rahman of Bangla department of the university conducted the programme while Hasina Afroz, librarian of BRAC University addressed as the resource person. More than thousand of teachers, officials and students of various departments of the university took part at the program.
