A readymade garments (RMG) worker was stabbed to death allegedly by a drug addict in Chatapool area under Halishahar police station in the city on Monday.
The deceased was Kona Akhter Pori, 17, wife of Belal Hossain, hailing from Ghatigora village of Chandina upaila under Comilla district. Kona and her husband used to live at a rented house in the area of the city.
Mahfuzur Rahman, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Halishahar police station, said Kona and a drug addict Jahim Uddin of the area locked in an altercation as she accused Jasim for stealing a gas stove from her rented house. At one stage, Jasim stabbed her indiscriminately. Later, Kona died of excessive bleeding. A case was filed in this connection, he added.
However, victim’s husband Belal claimed that Jasim is an alleged drug peddler of the area. He used to take drug coming in their rented house. On Sunday Jasim came to their house and asked Kona to keep a packet of yaba tablets but Kona refused to keep the drugs. On Monday morning while they found the gas stove missing, the other residents accused Jasim and being enraged Jasim stabbed Kona.
