Suspected yaba trader killed in Ctg gunfight

STAFF REPORTER, Ctg

An alleged yaba peddler was killed in a ‘shootout’ with the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) at Patenga Sea Beach in Chittagong yesterday.
The deceased was identified as Zafar Ahmed (32), of Anwara upazila in Chittagong, said Shohel Mahmud, Assistant Director (Media) of RAB-7.
“A team of the elite force intercepted Zafar along with his four associates on way to Patenga beach around 12:45am. At one point, Zafar fired gunshots towards RAB men forcing them to shoot back.” said Mahmud.
"The fight left him critically injured. Zafar was found dead after he was rushed to Chittagong Medical College Hospital (CMCH). Around 10,000 pieces of Yaba tablets, a light gun and a foreign made pistol were also recovered from the spot," added Mahmud.
