Censor board members to watch Farooki’s ‘Doob’ soon

Though the much-talked-about upcoming film ‘Doob’ (No Bed of Roses), directed by prominent Bangladeshi filmmaker Mostofa Sarwar Farooki, was submitted to the Bangladesh Film Censor Board (BFCB) a couple of days ago, the members of the censor board didn’t watch the film due to some issues raised centring the film. Now, the film will be screened in front of the board members soon, sources in the censor board and Jaaz Multimedia have confirmed the news yesterday afternoon.
A source in the censor board has revealed that the film has been submitted to the censor board, but the members of the board yet to watch it. The film will be screened in front of the board members very soon after a date will be fixed by the BFCB chairman. But it can be assumed that if everything goes in the right track, the director of the film will get green signal by the next week.
‘Doob’ is a joint-production between Jaaz Multimedia from Bangladesh and Indian’s Eskay Movies and celebrated Bollywood actor Irrfan Khan. Among others, the cast of the film includes Irrfan Khan, Parno Mitra from India and Rokeya Prachi and Nusrat Imrose Tisha from Bangladesh.
Mostofa Sarwar Farooki’s ‘Doob’ became the epicentre of attention in November last year when an Indian newspaper reported that it was based on the iconic Bangladeshi novelist Humayun Ahmed’s life. Humayun Ahmed’s wife Meher Afroz Shaon expressed deep concern in her reaction through a recent press conference. The filmmaker, however, has denied that it’s a biopic. Once the shooting was over, the film was previewed by the BFDC on February 12, 2017 and received a No Objection Certificate on February 15. Just a day later, the BFDC sent a letter to those concerned with the release of the movie that the NOC for their movie was cancelled mandated by a letter from the Ministry of Information. Since then, the film was in dire straits as an order by the Ministry of Information had halted the process of its release.
