A joint team of army and police is searching for bodies in remote Lemuchhari of Rangamati after a section of local people claimed that three people, including one minor boy, were gunned down by a group of unidentified assailants yesterday.
According to local sources, an armed group attacked the victims in the remote Lemuchhari area yesterday early hours. The three victims are Supriya Talukder, 55, Moloya Chakma, 32, of Jibtali Union under Rangamati Sadar Upazila and Arannya Chakma, 11, of Jurachari Upazila of the district, said locals.
Talking to The Independent yesterday evening, Kotowali Police Station Officer In-charge Md Abdur Rashid said they were informed about the killings by locals. A joint team of army and police members was sent to the spot to verity the incident and the team is searching for the bodies, he said. One of the claimed victims, Supriya Talukdar is a former district-level leader of the Santu Larma-led Parbatya Chattagram Janasanghati Samiti.
