500 bullets found in Aftabnagar
Police recovered some 500 rounds of bullet in an abandoned condition from the capital’s Aftabnagar on Monday.
Officer-in-Charge of Badda Police Station Abdul Jalil said some workers, who were filling up earth at Trimohoni in the area, found the bullets around 7.30pm and informed police. Later, a team of the police station rushed in and recovered the 500 bullets intact, along with another 40 useless bullets from the spot, he said. cThe OC suspected that the bullets may have arrived where they were found with the soil, which was brought from other places for filling up the earth in Trimohoni.
3 cops among four injured
Four people, including three policemen and a suspected robber, were injured during a fight between ‘robbers’ and cops at Chandipur in Keraniganj early Tuesday.
Tipped off that robbers were preparing to commit robberies on Nawabganj-Keraniganj road, a team of police conducted a drive there around 1:30am. Sensing the presence of police, the ‘robbers’ attacked the cops and stabbed three of them. Later, police fired shots on the attackers leaving an unidentified ‘robber’ wounded. He was admitted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital. The injured policemen were being treated at a local clinic.
10 held with fake currencies
Detectives arrested 10 people along with huge fake currencies and 12 pounds of snake venom from different parts of capital on Monday night.
A team of Detective Branch (DB) of police (North) conducted drives and arrested the ten people with huge fake currency notes, currency-making equipment, materials and 12 pounds of snake venom, said deputy commissioner (media) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Masudur Rahman.
5 shops gutted in Sylhet
At least five shops were burnt as a fire broke out at a market in Bandar Bazar of Sylhet city on Monday night.
Fire service sources said the fire broke out at ‘Sandhani Fabrics’ shop around 11:30pm from an electric short-circuit, and it soon spread around.
Razia Ispahani passes away
Mrs Razia Ispahani wife of late Sadri Ispahani passed away in London yesterday early morning. She was 93, says a press release.
She was suffering from old age complications. She left behind 4 sons, 3 daughters, grandchildren, great grandchildren and a host of relatives and admirers to mourn her death. Friends and well-wishers are requested to pray for the departed soul.
