RUTA polls tomorrow

The election to the executive bodies the Teachers Association of Rajshahi University (RUTA) will be held on tomorrow (April 20). Two panels will vie in the elections. Theses are pro-Awami League teachers including RU Progressive Teachers Society (PTS) ‘Yellow Panel’ and BNP-Jamaat backed ‘White Panel’.

According to the official sources, the election will be held at teachers club in the Juberee Bhaban on the day from 8 am to 5 pm. About 1143 teachers will cast their votes against 15 posts. The “White Panel” candidates are: Prof Dr Sayedur Rahman of Statistics department (president), Mohammed Shariful Islam (vice president), Dr Aminul Islam of  Agronomy and Agriculture dept (Treasurer), Dr ANM Jahangir Alam of Management dept (secretary general), and Dr Kutrat E Jahan of Chemistry dept (joint secretary general).
On the other hand, in the “Yellow panel” candidates are: Prof Dr Nazrul Islalm of Chemistry department (president), Prof Dr Sharochito Gosh of Institute of Bangladesh Studies (IBS) (vice president), Prof Habibur Rahman of Chemistry department (treasurer), Prof Dr Ruhul Amin of Political Science dept (secretary general) and Prof Dr Abdul  Gani of Population Science and Human Resource dept (treasurer). The Election Commissioner  and Treasurer of immediate past RUTA committee Prof Dr Dilip Kumar Roy said, all preparations are almost complete to hold the polls.
