3 RAJUK officials quizzed
over graft allegations

The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) yesterday interrogated chief town planner of Rajdhani Unnayan Kartripakkha (RJAUK) and his two colleagues following allegations of graft and irregularities.
“ACC summoned chief town planner Sirajul Islam, town planner Ashraful Alam Akanda, and an authorized officer of the RAJUK AZ Shafiul Hannan as part of conducting inquiry into allegations of graft against them,” public relations officer and also a deputy director Pranab Kumar Bhattacharya of the ACC told BSS.
The commission quizzed them for two hours from 10 in the morning as they allegedly declared the land of Detail Area Plan (DAP) as ordinary land, giving approval to commercial buildings at different residential areas and residential buildings in commercial areas, he also said.
UNB adds: The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) on Monday filed a case against four people, including two customs officers, for allegedly plundering over Tk 52 lakh. ACC deputy assistant director Mohammad Shahjahan Siraj filed the case against them with Bandar Police Station in Chittagong, ACC spokesman Pranab Kumar Bhattacharya
said. The case was filed against proprietor of M/S United Trade Mart Tofail Ahmed Khan, proprietor of GSS Trade Syndicate (C&F agent) Shahidul Alam Talukder, former customs officer of Chittagong Customs House JM Ali Ahsan (now customs officer of Chuadanga) and then assistant customs officer of Chittagong Customs House Sheikh M Harunur Rashed (now assistant customs officer of Narayanganj).
Meanwhile, an ACC team arrested Tofail Ahmed Khan from the capital’s Moghbazar area soon after the filing of the case.
According to the case statement, supplier United Trade Mart in collusion with C&F agent GSS Trade Syndicate and the two customs officials released pipes imported for Barind Multipurpose Development Authority (BMDA) from Chittagong Customs House showing false declaration, which dodged a revenue of Tk 52 lakh to the government.
