Six people were killed in separate road accidents in Gazipur, Tangail, Laxmipur and Habiganj districts yesterday. Our Gazipur correspondent reports: Three people were killed and three others injured as a bus rammed a CNG-run auto-rickshaw at Dosshonarayanpur on Dhaka-Kishoreganj highway in Kapasia upazila yesterday afternoon. Those killed included auto-rickshaw driver Mohammed Kabir Hossain, 26, of Hailjur village in Kapasia upazila, and passengers -- Rashida Begum, 50, and Arif Hossain, 20, a student of Amraid BM College and a resident of the same village. Among the injured, Rashida’s son Momen, 20, has been sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital. The identities of others injured could not be known immediately.
Officer-in-Charge of Kapasia police said a Dhaka-bound bus of Ononya Paribahan from Kishoreganj hit the auto- rickshaw from opposite direction at around 2 pm, leaving Rashida and Arif dead on the spot and four passengers of the auto- rickshaw injured. Local people sent the injured to Kapasia Upazila Health complex. But Al-Amin died on the way to Dhaka Medical College Hospital. Our Tangail correspondent says: A woman was killed and her husband injured as a bus hit a motorcycle at Sovolla on Dhaka-Tangail highway in Mirzapur upazila.
The deceased was identified as Marzina Begum, 32, wife of Mizanur Rahman of Salonga village under Kaliakoir upazila in Gazipur district.
Humayun Kabir, officer-in-charge of Gorai highway police, said the accident occurred when a bus of Keya Paribahan hit a motorcycle from behind in the area at about 4 pm, leaving motorcycle co-rider Marzina dead on the spot and her husband Mizanur injured. Mizanur was admitted to Mirzapur Kumudini Medical College Hospital in a critical condition.
Our Noakhali correspondent adds: A man was killed and five others were injured when a CNG run auto-rickshaw collided with a motorcycle on Laximpur –Noakhali road near Dala Bazaar in Laxmipur sadar upazila early yesterday. The deceased has been identified as Ahmed, 41, of Char Bongshi in Raipur upazila. In Habiganj: A man was crushed under wheels of a train in Sahapur area under Madhabpur upazila yesterday afternoon, reports BSS.
Identity of the deceased could not be known immediately.
