AFP, MOSCOW: Injury-hit Spartak Moscow took a huge step towards a first Russian title since 2001 on Sunday when Alexander Samedov hit a late winner in a 2-1 victory over Zenit St Petersburg.
Spartak are 10 points ahead of CSKA Moscow, who were held to a 0-0 draw by Rostov on Saturday, and 11 in front of Zenit with seven matches of the season remaining.
Dutch midfielder Quincy Promes gave Spartak a 22nd minute lead in Moscow before Artem Dzyuba levelled midway through the second period.
But substitute Samedov wrapped up the three points 10 minutes from time.
