Singapore’s non-oil domestic exports (NODX), a key gauge of the export performance of the small and highly open economy, rose 16.5 per cent in March year-on-year, the International Enterprise (IE) Singapore said yesterday, reports Xinhua.
The growth was due to the increase in both electronic and non-electronic NODX, IE Singapore said in a statement.
On a month-on-month seasonally adjusted basis, NODX shrank by 1.1 per cent in March, compared to a 1.1-per cent growth in the previous month, due to the decline in electronic NODX, which outweighed the rise in non-electronic NODX.
The trade promotion agency said that electronic NODX expanded by 5.2 per cent in March year-on-year, following a 17.2-per cent increase in the previous month. Parts of PCs, consumer electronics and ICs contributed the most to the growth posting 33.9 percent, 29.9 per cent and 7.8 per cent increase respectively.
