DUET admission test May 21

GAZIPUR: Admission tests of BSc Engineering and Bachelor of Architecture (B.Arch) programmes under academic session 2016-17 of Dhaka University of Engineering and Technology (DUET) will be held on May 21.
The application process for the admission test has started from April 1 and will continue till May 3, DUET Assistant Director (research and extension) Kamrun Nahar told BSS.
Interested students have been advised to submit their application through Dutch Bangla Mobile Banking and online, she added.

Historic Mujibnagar Day observed at varsities
Different public and private universities have observed the Historic Mujibnagr Day-2017, the formation of Bangladesh's first government that led the War of Liberation in 1971, on their respective campuses yesterday.
Rajshahi University (RU) chalked out different programmes including discussion, cultural event, and essay competition among the university school students to observe the day.
A discussion was held on the campus where RU acting vice-chancellor and Treasurer Prof Sayenuddin presided over the programme while teacher and writer Prof Dr Sonath Kumar Shaha was the chief discussant. Dean of social science faculty and also national observance convener Prof Dr Faifur Rahman delivered welcome speech while student advisor Prof Dr Mizanur Rahman Khan conducted it.
 Later, acting vice chancellor Prof Dr Sayenuddin handed over the prize among the winners of the competition.
Besides, RU unit Bangladesh Chatra League (BCL), a student wing of ruling Awami League, brought a procession marking the day. Besides, RU Meherpur student development organisation formed human chain in front of university central library demanding the recognition of Historic Mujibnagar Day as the national day. 
Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Maritime University (BSMRMU) held a discussion tilted ‘Historic Mujibnagar Day and Independence of Bangladesh’, said a release.
BSMRMU Vice-Chancellor Rear Admiral ASM Abdul Baten addressed the discussion as chief guest. 
BSMRMU Treasurer Commodore M Khurshid Malik, Registrar Commodore M Abidur Rahman, deans of different faculties, teachers and students of the university were present at the function, among others. Besides, an essay competition and cultural event were held at the university's auditorium on the campus. Later, the VC distributed prizes among the winners of essay competition, the release added.

Law and Mooting Society opens at NSU 
North South University (NSU) inaugurated Law and Mooting society on Sunday, says a press release.  State Minister for Labour and Employment Md Mujibul Haque Chunnu was the chief guest while Pro-Vice Chancellor (Designate) GU Ahasan was the special guest. 
The ceremony was chaired by Prof Abdur Rob Khan, Dean, School of Humanities and Social Sciences. Dr Gour Gobinda Goswami, Treasurer, NSU was present as the guest of honour. Dr Abu Noman Mohammad Atahar Ali, chairman, Department of Law was also present in the event.
North South University Law and Mooting society (NSULMS) is a society where law students can perform and practice oral advocacy, execute mock trials, organise social and legal campaigns.  In the first segment of the inauguration, an intra-moot court competition was conducted. In the second segment, the finale of moot court competition took place where two of NSU’s best teams took part. 
The winning team consisted of two mooters, Nafiz Ahmed and Sajid Hassain along with one researcher, Asif Mahboob Tanvir. The inauguration ceremony ended with a cultural event.
