Dhaka North City Corporation Mayor Annisul Huq yesterday said the wholesale kitchen market in Karwan Bazar will be shifted out and relocated to different parts of the city by December, reports UNB. The DNCC mayor revealed the plan while talking to reporters after inaugurating the nine-storey zonal office of DNCC-3 in Mohakhali.
"Already we have taken all necessary preparations to shift the market as we have reached an understanding with the people concerned to relocate the market as soon as possible," he said. The DNCC plans to establish three separate markets in three different locations - Jatrabari, Mohakhali and Aminbazar - to accommodate the shift out of Karwan Bazar. Of them, Annisul Huq said the facility at Mohakhali is almost ready to be handed over. But the authorities have been finding it difficult to sell the space available in the market, as traders find the rate quoted per unit of floor space too expensive.
