The 15th session of the 10th Parliament will begin at 5:00pm on May 2 (Tuesday), says a press release issued by Bangladesh Parliament Secretariat yesterday. President Abdul Hamid has summoned the parliament session exercising his power bestowed upon him by article 72 (1) of the Constitution. This will be a pre-budget brief session in compliance with constitutional obligation of holding a new session within 60 working days of the previous one, said Chief Whip ASM Firoz. “The budget session is likely to be summoned any day later next month,” he said. The last (14th) session of parliament began on January 22 was prorogued on March 11. A total of 10 out of 17 bills were passed during its 32 working days and March 25 was declared as Gonohatya Dibas (Day of Genocide).
