NU Masters final year exams begin today
Master's (regular) final year examinations-2014 of academic session 2013-2014 under National University (NU) will begin across the country today.
The examinations will take place at 105 centers across the country, said a NU press release. A total of 1,28,341 students will sit for the exams from 130 colleges of the country. All preparations have been taken in this regard. NU authority sought cooperation from the administration, college authorities, teachers, students and guardians concerned for holding the examinations peacefully, the release added.
DU Islamic History and Culture department holds freshers reception
Islamic History and Culture Department of Dhaka University (DU) yesterday organised a reception to welcome its first year honors students and bid farewell to Masters final year students on the campus.
Held at Muzaffar Ahmed Chowdhury Auditorium of Social Science Faculty of the university, the function was addressed by DU Pro Vice-Chancellor (Administration) Prof Dr Md Akhtaruzzaman as chief guest, said a DU release. Islamic History and Culture Department Chairman Prof Mahfuzul Islam presided over the function while Arts Faculty Dean Prof Abu Md Delwar Hossain addressed it as special guest, the release said.
Skill dev programme for CU employee held
CHITTAGONG: A skill development training programme for Chittagong University (CU) employees was held at Business Administration faculty auditorium at CU yesterday.
Bureau of Business research of CU organised the training programme at around 11am.
In the training programme Vice-Chancellor of CU Iftekhar Uddin Chowdhury was the chief guest while chairperson of Bureau of Business research Ahmod Salauddin presided over the programme.
The chief guest Dr Iftekhar Uddin Chowdhury said “For development of professional quality of employees, such kind of training programme is very important. To dynamic academic and administrative activities, it is very important to increase the efficiency of employees.” Vice-Chancellor hoped that the employees who were participated in the training programme, their knowledge, talent and experience to be able to utilize their job properly. In the training programme, Pro-Vice Chancellor Prof Shirin Akhter, Dean of Business Administration faculty AFM Aowrongazev were spoke as special guest.
Pahela Baishakh celebrated at universities
Different public and private universities celebrated ‘Pahela Baishakh’, the first day of the Bangla calendar, with a festive mood and enthusiasm on Friday.
Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB) celebrated the day on its own campus at Bashudhara, Dhaka on Friday. The Division of Students Affairs (DoSA), IUB organised activities that include traditional songs, dance and band music. The whole campus went onto an absolute festive mode with so many paintings and banners and other captivating items and logistics.
Before starting the program, A Quaiyum Khan, Member, Board of Trustees and Prof Shahriar Khan, Dean, School of Engineering and Computer Science briefly spoke on the occasion. Senior members of the faculty and management and a large number of IUB students enjoyed various events of the day. Meanwhile, North South University (NSU) celebrated Pahela Baishakh 1424 on its own campus at Bashundhara in the capital on Friday. The day was started with a colorful rally around the campus with handmade multi-colored festoons, sculptures and art projects to welcome the new and blessed year. A traditional fair was organised by NSU Sangskritik Sangathan where traditional items were sold.
AK Abdul Momen, Chairman, Chittagong Stock Exchange, NSU Pro Vice Chancellor Prof GU Ahsan were the chief guest and special guest at a discussion. NSU Treasurer Gour Gobinda Goswami and NSU Sangskritik Sangathan Faculty Advisor was also present along with other NSU administrative personnel.
