Syed Waqeel Ahad is set to perform a number of Baul songs at a programme ‘Chol Mon Anonde Jai with Waqeel’ in the capital’s EMK Center on April 15. The songs that represent the root of the heritage of Bangladeshi music and his selection of songs will also mark the festivity of the new year celebration. He will render few of his self-written and composed songs at the event where a fusion of eastern and western instruments will accompany his voice.
Singer-composer-lyricist Syed Waqeel Ahad spent a remarkable time of his life with the Bauls living in different parts of the country. Having more than 1000 self-written songs in his possession, Waqeel started writing songs when he was a student of class seven. His songs, mostly deals with nature, human psyche, relationship and different kinds of social awareness related messages.
In 2014, Waqeel won MTV Platinum Disc Award for the music video of Amrito Megher Bari.
Besides, the multifaceted artiste has a deep penchant in playing different percussion instruments, flute and dotara.
Tickets worth of BDT 100 will be available at EMK Center before the event.
