Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) is planning to organise National Women’s Championship prior to the Dhaka Premier Division Women’s Cricket League.
The board could not start any of either National Championship and Dhaka Premier Division Women’s Cricket League due to scarcity of the grounds as the tournaments for men’s cricket are being held one after another across the country.
As soon as the end of the Bangladesh Cricket League (BCL), National Cricket League (NCL) had been started. Then the first division cricket league and ACC Emerging Teams Asia Cup. The second division cricket league is about to finish. Now Dhaka Premier League (DPL) and Youth Cricket League have been begin at five different venues across the country.
In this way, if they sit idle then the tournament for women’s cricket will not be possible to roll onto the ground. So they have decided to start soon any of the tournament for the women’s players.
The board gave the responsibility to Game Development national manager Nazmul Abedin Fahim to start the process.
Fahim meanwhile held a meeting with the concerned persons and decided to start the National Championship in the first week of May.
“We’ll soon send letters to the divisional authorities so that they could take their preparation for the National Championship. Then we will call them for a meeting within the next 10 days,” said Nazmul Abedin.
“Hopefully we could start the championship in the first week of May. Then we will start the process of the players’ transfer for the Dhaka Premier Division Women’s Cricket League,” Fahim told The Independent.
