Syed Nayeemuddin is likely to join Mohammedan Sporting Club for upcoming season as the country’s traditional team have in touch to rope in the Indian veteran coach, who is more known as the all-time coach of Brothers Union.
The 73-year-old coach was supposed to take the charge of Brothers Union Monday for the third successive seasons and overall six seasons but Nayeemuddin did not come here timely.
Amer Khan, manager of Brothers Union also agreed about Nayeemuddin’s schedule to arrive on Monday, rather than his name is being heard for Mohammedan SC, who are comparatively going to build a good team this season.
Amer Khan when talking to this correspondent yesterday said, “According to negotiation of last few days he was supposed to come on April 10, but did not. After watching TV news about his joining in Mohammedan I tried to talk with him and he just told me he would inform me later on.” Meanwhile, Mohammedan director-in-charge Lokman Hossain Bhuiyan said, “We have talked to him but nothing have been finalised yet.”
“Actaully we need a coach who have experienced to handle the senior players. That’s why we are looking for an experienced coach. Handling the senior players is difficult for existing coach [Abdul Kayum] Sentu,” said Bhuiyan.
However, Sentu said that he knows nothing about the new move of the club as he was signed to guide Mohammedan SC for the upcoming season. He has also guided Mohammedan in Sheikh Kamal International Club Cup Tournament in Chittagong last February.
Nayeemuddin at his first assignment as Brothers head coach in 2004, guided the All Orange to be champions while he was six times Brothers coach in last 13 seasons. He was also the head coach of Bangladesh national team.
In last season Brothers clinched the fourth position with seven wins, nine draws and lost six matches out of 22 outings under Nayeemuddin.
