He said Principal Staff Officer of the Armed Forces Division Lt Gen Md Mahfuzur Rahman gave the address of welcome at the meeting while Commandant of the National Defence College Lt Gen Chowdhury Hasan Sarwardy presented the draft National Defence Policy.
Ihsanul Karim said the draft policy will now be sent to the Cabinet for its approval. Speaking at the meeting, the Prime Minister said her government has been implementing the Forces Goal 2030 following the guidelines and principles of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
“We’re an independent nation and we don’t want to engage in war with others. But, we’ll have to remain always prepared so that we can give a befitting reply if we’re attacked,” she said.
Hasina said, “We believe in peace and we don’t want war....our duty is to safeguard the country’s independence and sovereignty.”
She said Bangladesh is now moving ahead and will continue to march forward. “Bangladesh is now regarded as a dignified nation across the globe and a role model of development by all.”
