National Board of Revenue (NBR) will celebrate ‘Hal Khata’ today across the country on the occasion of ‘Choitra Sangkranti’, a day before the first day of Boishakh, the first month of Bengali New Year 1424, reports BSS.
“We’ll observe Hal Khata with a slogan-payment of arrears, not realization-and as part of it, we’ll entertain the business people with sweets on Choitra Sangkranti, a day before the first day of Boishakh,” said NBR chairman Md Nojibur Rahman.
All income tax, VAT and customs offices have been given necessary instructions to observe the day, he said, adding that NBR wants to encourage taxpayers to clear their outstanding revenue in a festive atmosphere.
