Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) and Korea Supreme Prosecutor’s Office (SPO) in association with Bangladesh Department of Narcotic Control (DNC) yesterday launched a project titled ‘Illicit Eradication And Advanced Management Through IT (I DREAM it)’ at the office of the DNC in the capital, says a press release.
Salahuddin Mahmud, Director General of DNC, Joe Hyun-gue, Country Director of KOICA, and Do Young-hwa(Project Manager), Representative of SPO along with higher officials from Ministry of Home Affairs, Bangladesh Computer Council (BCC) and other stakeholders were present at the kick-off ceremony.
The project with the support of USD 4 million (BDT 37.68 Crore) by KOICA and SPO aims to create a healthy social environment by reducing narcotic related crime. It will strengthen the capacity of DNC by establishing a digital Management Information System (MIS) in the organisation and employ modern narcotics identifier to reduce the crime.
Joe Hyun-gue, Country Director of KOICA, said this project will further enhance the relationship between Bangladesh and Korea. Moreover, he appreciated DNC’s support to initiate the project. He hoped that both parties will continue to work closely in implementing this project. Salahuddin Mahmud, Director General of DNC expressed gratitude to the Korean government for being a trusted friend to Bangladesh and for supporting this significant project.
