CHITTAGONG: A court here yesterday placed an alleged militant couple -- Jahirul Haque alias Jasim and his wife Arijna Begum alias Aklima -- arrested from a ‘militant hideout’ in Sitakunda upazila on a 10-day remand in three cases.
Senior Judicial Magistrate Shiblu Kumar Dey passed the order when police produced them before the court with a 20-day remand prayer.
They were put on a three-day remand each in a case filed for murder while on a two-day one in another case filed under the Anti-terrorism Act filed with Sitakunda Police Station and a five-day remand in the other case filed with Mirsarai Police Station.
Earlier, on March 17, a court placed the alleged militant couple on a 12-day remand in two cases.
The couple was shown arrested in four cases filed in connection with the raid on a 'militant hideout' that left four suspected militants and a child dead in Sitakunda upazila.
On March 16, the four suspected militants, including a female one, and the six-year-old boy were killed during a special raid by joint forces on a militant hideout at Premtala in Sitakunda upazila.
The law enforcers arrested the alleged militant couple --Jasim and his wife Arjina - along with their two-month-old baby from another militant den in Sitakunda on March 15.
