Bangladesh Nritya Shilpi Sangstha (BNSS) on Monday accorded a grand reception to eminent dance exponent Shamim Ara Nipa and Ostad Bazlur Rahman Badal to celebrate their achievement of winning the two most prestigious awards given by the state. This year, Shamim Ara Nipa was awarded the Ekushey Padak, while Bazlur Rahman Badal was given the Swadhinata Padak (Independence Award).
The felicitation programme, organised by BNSS, began with receiving Shamim Ara Nipa with flowers at the National Art Plaza of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy, Segun Bagicha in the capital. The inaugural dance kicked off with the rendition of song ‘Anandaloke Mangalaloke’ by lighting candles. Then, uttorio and crest were handed over to Shamim Ara Nipa. Due to illness, Bazlur Rahman Badal couldn’t attend the event. On behalf of him, Shahidul Islam received the crest from the president of BNSS Minu Haque.
On the other hand, president of Sammilita Sangskritik Jote Golam Kuddus greeted Shamim Ara Nipa with flower bouquet, while dance artiste Selina Haq presented uttorio to her.
