Domestic help found dead
Panchagarh: A 10-year-old domestic help was found dead at the residence of a lawyer at Islambagh in the district town on Monday, reports UNB.
Quoting locals, police said Nur Nehar Nuri, 10, had been working as a domestic help at the house of Hakikul Islam for the last one and half years. Getting no response from Nur, Hakikul along with his wife Rawshan Akter Liza entered the room breaking open the door at noon and found her hanging from the ceiling, claimed the lawyer.
Later, they took her to Panchagarh Sadar Hospital keeping police and neighbours at dark.
On information, police went to the hospital on Tuesday morning and handed the body over to the family following autopsy. Rabiul Hasan, officer-in-charge of Panchagarh Police Station, necessary action will be taken as per the postmortem report.
2 ‘robbers’ held with firearms
Chapainawabganj: Police arrested two suspected robbers along with firearms from Ekhlaspur in Shibganj upazila on Monday evening, reports UNB.
Acting on secret information, police conducted a drive around 7:30pm and arrested Abdul Wahab, 22, and Habib Ali, 19, while they were preparing for committing robberies in the area, said Shahidul Islam, a sub-inspector of Shibganj Police Station. Police recovered a pistol, one shooter gun, one magazine and seven bullets from their possession, the SI added. A case was filed.
Youth jailed for stalking girl

Faridpur: A mobile court here on Monday sentenced a young man to one year’s jail for stalking a female HSC examinee in the district town, reports UNB.
Witnesses said they saw Sagor Karmakar Bijoy, 22, son of Krishna Karmakar of Goyalchamot area, stalking the girl on her way to college every day.
Following information, a team of Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) arrested Sagor on Monday and then produced him before the mobile court, led by executive magistrate Parvej Mallik. The court then sentenced Sagor to one year’s jail after examining the witnesses.
Schoolgirl commits suicide

A schoolgirl committed suicide by taking pesticides at Muktodaho village in Sharsa upazila of Jessore district on Monday night. Deceased Rani Khatun, 15, daughter of Golam Nabi was a class X student of Rahimpur Alim Madrasa. Sources said her neighbour Rana Mia, a resident of Ramchandrapur village used to tease Rani on her way to school everyday. On the day of the incident, Rana proposed her for illegal relationship with him openly. As Rani refused the proposal, she was tortured by Rana.
After the incident, Rani returned home and committed suicide by taking pesticides in her bed room at night. Her family members sent her to Jessore Medical College
