Walton retains DPL sponsorship right

Walton yet another inked deal with Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) to become the title sponsor of the Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League (DPDCL).

This time the electric and electronic product manufacturing company signed their contact for the next two seasons. For this, they have of course been paid 20 percent more than the previous editions. This will be their five consecutive times sponsorship for the country’s List A cricket tournament.
BCB director and its tournament committee chairman Saiful Alam Chowdhury disclosed all these at a press conference at the Media Block of the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium (SBNCS) yesterday. 
“Seeking the sponsorship, we had given an advertisement on March 29. We then got response from some corporate companies, which of them Walton was the highest bidder. And so, we have given them the sponsorship right of the league,” said Saiful Alam.
Although Chowdhury did not reveal the amount of money, he said that they have received 20 percent more than the past occasions as the sponsorship money from Walton.
He was accompanied by Uday Hakim, senior operative director of Walton and Milton Ahmed, senior assistant director of the sponsorship company on the occasion.
Uday Hakim said that they want to stay with cricket at every level whether it is in Premier-First-Second and Third Divisions cricket.
“Walton is sponsoring all the cricket competitions of the domestic circuit. We considered Dhaka Premier League (DPL) as the most important cricket competition of the country. We are with it for the last four years,” said Uday. 
“We have also sponsored for the National Cricket League (NCL) along with Bangladesh Cricket League (BCL). Even if the board greets us to come forward to sponsoring the First Division, Second Division and Third Division we will also try to stay with those tournaments. Actually we are trying to go all the places, where there are prospects of cricket. We think that there is second to none like cricket for branding in this subcontinent,” Hakim told newsmen.
The DPL 2016-2017 season will get under way at three different venues of Fatullah and Savar today.
