RANGPUR: The authorities concerned have already completed preparations to welcome 'Pahela Baishakh', the Bengali New Year-1424, amid traditional festivities and tight security measures in the district on April 14, reports BSS.
The district and upazila administrations, educational institutions, socio-cultural and business organisations have chalked out programmes to welcome 'Pahela Baishakh' in line with the spirit of War of Liberation in a peaceful atmosphere.
According to official sources, the celebrations will begin in the morning through traditional 'Baishakhi' programmes to be performed simultaneously by artists of Shishu Academy and Shilpakala Academy on Zila School ground and 'Sammilita Sangskritik Jote' on the Central Shaheed Minar premises in the city.
The district administration will bring out the main 'Baishakhi' procession carrying festoons, placards, banners and singing 'Baishakhi' and folk songs from Zila School at 9 am to welcome the Bengali New Year 1424.
