Cultural Affairs Minister Asaduzzaman Noor at a discussion meeting in Nilphamari recently called upon the youths to utilise their internal power by changing the mindset of running after jobs after completing education, according to a report in this newspaper on Sunday.
Since employment generation in government sector is not satisfactory, youths of the country can come forward with their education, skills and acumens to expand the horizon of employment opportunities to live a life with dignity. The educated youths can change their fortune through setting up of small, medium and large-scale enterprises, trade and business to flourish themselves making proper use of their honesty, dedication and innovative ideas. They can do it by gaining education and skills from the technical and vocational training centres. After receiving training from the centres they can set up projects of their choice by taking bank loans on easy terms and conditions. The initial capital needed for this purpose is not that much big. In this way they can achieve solvency and improve the economic conditions of their families remarkably. They can also create employment opportunities for the unemployed youths.
There is no denying the fact that remittances sent by Bangladeshis working abroad and the RMG sector are the main pillars of Bangladesh economy. RMG sector has generated employments for millions of people, including a huge number of female workers.
The present government is striving for industrialization in the country but much more should be done. The entrepreneurs of the country are going ahead defying various problems confronting them and are making significant contributions to the country’s economy in recent times. They are contributing positively to GDP growth and solving the unemployment problem to some extent.
What is needed is adequate government patronage. For starting a business, capital is the main thing. Bank loan can help an entrepreneur to go ahead with his/her business. Since high bank interest rate impedes the progress of an establishment, lowering of the same can help the entrepreneurs. A congenial climate for investment should be created in the country for attracting entrepreneurs. Government, various trade bodies like FBCCI, BGMEA, BKMEA and various NGOs can play their respective roles in this regard.
