Three missing as boat capsizes in Brahmaputra

At least three people, including two students, went missing after a boat capsized in the Brahmaputra River at Galakata Bazar under Gafargoan upazila in Mymensingh early yesterday.
The missing boat passengers were identified as Sheuly Akhtar, 30, class eight student Monir Miah, 15, son of Paran Miah of Gafargoan, and class seven student Munni Akhtar, 14, daughter of Nurul Islam from Hossainpur upazila of Kishoreganj district.
Badrul Alam Khan, OC of Pagla Police Station, said a Galakata Bazar-bound engine boat carrying 30 passengers left Char Agli in Gafargaon yesterday morning. The boat sank in Brahmaputra around 11am due to strong current and excessive load, he added.
