Jamal inch closer to title

The reigning champions Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club Limited went very closer to clinch the title for successive second time when riding on a hat-trick of Landing Darboe defeated Brothers Union by 5-1 in the Manyavar Bangladesh Premier Football League at the Bangabandhu National Stadium yesterday.
Jamal, after grabbing the 13th victory are clear ahead of the nearest rivals with 42 points from 17 matches. Their closest rivals Abahani Limited and Mohammedan Sporting Club earned 31 points from 16 matches while Sheikh Russell Krira Chakra, who were also one of the title contenders, obtained 29 points from 15 matches and five matches left to play.
However, on the day Jamal played like a champions with taking 2-0 lead inside 18 minutes and made it 4-1 before the half-time.
Jamal took the lead through Landing Darboe on 15th minute when the Gambian looked very cool to power past Brothers goalkeeper Biplob from top of the box (1-0).
Landing Darboe provided Emeka Darlington to double the lead three minutes later when he set a long pass for unmarked Emeka (2-0).
Brothers reduced one on 31st minute when Augustin Walson beat Jamal defence wall brilliantly with a free-kick from top of the box (1-2).
It was good sign for Sk Jamal to have goals before going to Kyrgyzstan on Aug 8 to play the AFC Cup against a host team and a team from Macao when they scored another two goals in a span three minutes. Emeka Darlington made the tally 3-1 on 45th and Landing Darboe scored his second in the injury hour of the first half (4-1).
Jamal, who were forced to share points with Brothers in their first leg encounter,  enlarged the margin on 56th minute with Landing Darboe completed his hat-trick when he shot the ball into net over advancing goalkeeper (5-1).
