Barisal City Corporation will announce its budget for the financial year 2015-16 with an outlay of Tk415 crore today (Sunday).
BCC mayor, however, assured that the corporation will not impose any fresh taxes on the city dwellers.
Ahsan Habib Kamal, BCC mayor, after getting approval of the councilors will announce the 14th budget of the corporation at 11.00am.
The city father will announce the budget, the 3rd one in his tenure, at
Nagar Bhavan conference room in presence of the councillors and officials of BCC and administration and journalists.
The mayor has already held several pre-budget meetings with the cross section of the city in the last one week and received public opinions about the budget.
The mayor at a separate pre-budget opinion-exchange meeting with the media vowed to make the city child-friendly.
He also admitted that implementation of the development budget depends on grants from the government.
Kamal narrating his successes and limitations in developing the city said development works mostly depend on receiving allocations from the government and non-government sources.
Human and women right activists of Barisal demanded special allocation in the budget of Barisal City Corporation for curbing early marriage, sexual harassment and preventing violence on women.
