A farmer was murdered and his son stabbed at Barahi Diyara village in Manikganj Sadar upazila on Saturday night. The deceased was identified as Abdul Jolil Kha, 55, of Char Nayabari village in Singair upazila of the district. His son Hasan Kha, who is an expatriate in Dubai, was admitted to Singair Upazila Health Complex.
Quoting family members of the deceased and locals, officer-in-charge (OC) of Sadar Police Station Habibulla Sarker said the farmer, along with his son went to her relative’s house at Krishnopur union of Sadar upazila on the day and started for returning home from there at about 7pm on Saturday, he said.
At around 9 pm, local people of Barahi Diyara area found the bodies lying in a maize field beside the village road, 2 and half kilometer away from victim’s house at Char Nayabari village. Villagers rescued Hasan Kha in critical condition and informed police.
Police rushed to the spot and recovered the body. The body bore several marks of sharp weapons on the neck, police sources said.
The cause of the killing could not be known immediately. However, previous enmity might be the reason.
The OC said police is trying their best to find out real cause behind the murder. “We would be able to know the actual motif behind the killings only after investigation,” the OC added.
Replying to a query, the officer said he found some important clues, but he would not disclose any details for the sake of probe.
The body was sent to Manikganj Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy yesterday.
